Watching the fashion shows ‘walk’ by is big business for trend watchers and beauty queens. But I will be honest with you: I am neither one of them. I watch what is the trend this season and use the things, which I like and what looks best on me. You have to be dressed at your best for your work or parties, but when you are not a model, you have to be careful, what clothes you wear and what pieces of jewelry are best with your outfit of the day. Fashion shows are not always a good reference, but just pick the nice things and leave the rest to the skinny ones.

That’s the reason I discuss the fashion trends here with you and advise you what type of jewelry fits well with the trends. This is the fourth blog about the fashion trends of this Fall and when you missed some, don’t worry, you will find the links at the end of this blog.

Having that said… the fashion shows showed a lot of leather and suede. But also a lot of luxurious fabrics like velvet, and fabrics with lurex, metallic, brocade and embroidery (like Chinese silk). You will look fashionable too when you wear tweed, wool, and knitted fabrics. And fur is still hot; the artificial fur. Don’t kill the animals for your wardrobe, please.

One trend I love and will look great on a lot of women is that you see a lot of clothing, made of the fabrics described above, in one color. All black, or all brown or even all dark blue will look great on a lot of women, that have a normal weight or are a bit too heavy. You will look taller wearing a unicolor, and you will look less heavy. And you can make this unicolor even better with matching colored pieces of jewelry or even quite a different color for the less formal occasions.

Let me show you what I mean:

Here are some tips for you, wearing clothing of one color:

  • Combine all your clothing in exactly the same color or use the ton-sûr-ton principle. That means that you wear for instance a dark blue dress and combine this with a jacket in a color blue, that is one shade or tinge darker. That color will match perfectly and gives your clothing a little bit of excitement.
  • Wear a piece of jewelry, that is one shade or tinge lighter than the color you are wearing (again the ton-sûr-ton principle). That will look very elegant and stylish: perfect for the formal occasions and work.
  • Wear one big statement necklace in a different color. So you will be noticed and will be the center of all the attention. That statement necklace does not have to be heavy, but you ought to see it!
  • When you are not so tall wear a long necklace in a ton-sûr-ton color. But be careful: when you have a belly the lowest part of the necklace should be above the belly. Otherwise, all the attraction goes to your least best part and that’s not what we want.

Hopefully, these tips will help you to choose the right clothing and pieces of jewelry. Don’t walk around with questions about this subject, just ask me: info@www.florencejewelshop.com
